Jan Donatelli has a multi-faceted background as a military veteran and a union member. Lived around the world from Germany to Hawaii, she has worked with many national organizations to bring about lasting change and improvement. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, she became a commissioned officer in United States Navy and a pilot, a true trailblazer for women in a new field of opportunity. In 2010, Jan was the Democratic nominee for Congress in Illinois' 5th district.
Brendan Mullen is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, mentoring, advising and training Iraqi Security Forces. After serving his country, Brendan helped start and run a small business that grew under his leadership from one employee to over 110. Brendan would later open his own Strategic Planning, Strategic Communication and Information Technology consulting firm. In 2012, he was the Democratic Party's nominee for Congress in Indiana's 2nd district.
Sally A. Painter is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Blue Star Strategies, LLC. Sally has an extensive track record working with Central Europe on security and policy issues. For the last 20 years, she has worked with opposition leaders to promote democracy and transparency in countries in transition. Sally was a senior advisor in the Clinton Administration, where she managed the outreach and advocacy program for the late Secretary of Commerce.
Ellen O'Kane Tauscher is a former Democratic Member of the United States House of Representatives, representing California's 10th Congressional district. Ms. Tauscher was elected on her first run for any elected office in 1996 and served until her resignation in 2009 to join the Obama Administration where she served as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs until 2012. Returning to the private sector in February 2012, Tauscher is the vice chair of the Atlantic Council's Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security and also serves on the Atlantic Council's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Invacare Corporation (IVC, NYSE), of Elyria, Ohio; a member of the Board of Directors of Ehealth, Inc.(EHTH) of Mountain View, CA; a member of the Board of Directors of Edison International and Southern California Edison; an independent member of the Board of Governors of Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC and Los Alamos National Security LLC; a member of the Board of Directors of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and is chairman of the Board of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Foundation. In August 2013, she became independent board chairman of the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety, a 501 (C) 6 coalition of the 26 largest North American retailers and clothing brands Led by Wal-Mart, The Gap, Target and VF Brands, that are working with NGOs, the ILO industry and the government in Bangladesh, the world's second largest garment manufacturing country, to provide sustainable and enforceable garment factory workplace safety.
Shawn VanDiver manages enterprise risk and security for a multinational tech company in San Diego, CA. He serves on several boards and committees for national and international homeland security, emergency management, critical infrastructure protection, human trafficking, and security professional organizations and writes for Inside Homeland Security magazine. He has been published in local, national, and international outlets, including the San Diego Union Tribune and The Daily Beast. Locally, he serves on the San Diego Lawyers Club Human Trafficking Task Force, as the Academic Programs Chairman for the ASIS International San Diego Chapter, and is a member of the Live Well Lions Club. He attended National University and the Naval Postgraduate School, earning degrees in Domestic Security Management, Homeland Security and Safety Engineering, and Information Systems Operations; he holds multiple certifications spanning the enterprise of safety, homeland security, corporate security, emergency management, and teaching. He serves as faculty for San Diego State University, Ashford University, and Capella University and guest lectures at others. He advises candidates and campaigns at the local, county, and congressional level on veterans, public safety, and national security issues. Shawn led the charge to establish and now serves as Co-Director of the San Diego Chapter of the Truman National Security Project. A 12-year Navy Veteran and single parent, he enjoys cooking, scuba diving, and spending time with his 6 year old aspiring pirate/ninja turtle.
